What is Hockey Hold'em? Hockey Hold'em was created by Brent Belanger in 2015 after several years of conceptualization. The idea of Hockey Hold'em is all players will sign-up as INDIVIDUALS, then they will be divided/drafted between different teams all weekend (3 games) based on their previous games outcome, skill level, gender and age. Each team will be made as equal as possible using the AEA Salary Cap System. The tournament is open to any and ALL hockey players over the age of 18. The Hockey Hold'em tournament was expanded to 16 teams and 208 participants in 2023 (192 skaters & 16 goalies). Register early to guarantee you will be accepted into the show.
The top 26 skaters and two goalies with the most chips at end of their 3 round-robin games will be invited to play on Championship Sunday. A possible consolation game will be considered for the 16 bracket tournament.

The AEA has been bringing adult "beer league" hockey tournaments to west Michigan for over 20 years. Established in 2005, we have delivered some of the most competitive and unique tournament formats to the state. Our goal is to insure that all teams have the same opportunities to compete and win.
